One Yea of the Carers’ Meditation Podcast: A Season of Stillness
A year ago, during Carers Week 2025, we quietly launched something we weren’t entirely sure anyone would find. A free weekly podcast. No interviews, no experts, no agenda. Just a few minutes of calm, created specifically for the people who spend so much of their time looking after someone else.

This week, as Carers Week 2026 begins, the Carers’ Meditation Podcast marks its first anniversary — and we wanted to take a moment to reflect on what that means.
How It Started
The podcast grew from something we already knew to be true: that carers are often the last people to be looked after. They give so much — practically, emotionally, physically — and the spaces created just for them are few and far between. We wanted to offer something that asked nothing in return. No registration, no referral, no form to fill in. Just press play.
We also knew something else. Carers, not unlike first-time parents, often find themselves awake in the early hours — not always in crisis, not always in need of an emergency response, just awake. Struggling quietly. Needing a little company, a moment of calm, something to hold onto until morning. The kind of moment where you can’t pick up the phone and call someone because you don’t want to wake them, but where being completely alone with your thoughts feels impossibly heavy. We wanted the podcast to be there for those moments too.
And the evidence backs up why this matters. Research found that carers consistently show higher stress levels than non-carers. But when a group of carers were asked to pause just five times a day and take three deep breaths, over time their stress levels moved back towards the normal range. Something so small. Such a profound difference. Taking even a minute or two to breathe — really breathe — can have a lasting impact on your physical and mental health, and help you respond to whatever comes next from a place of calm rather than crisis.
That’s what the Carers’ Meditation Podcast was built on. Not a grand ambition. Just a quiet belief that you deserve a moment to breathe.
A Year in Numbers — and in Moments
Over the past twelve months, a new episode has landed every single week without fail — fifty-two regular episodes, plus three special editions, bringing the total to fifty-five episodes of calm across the year.
In that time, hundreds of carers have pressed play. Some could have been during a stolen moment in the car before going back inside. Some maybe even in the early hours when sleep wouldn’t come. Some might have been sitting in a hospital car park, gathering themselves before walking in. We don’t always know the circumstances — but we know the podcast has found people in the moments they needed it most.
That means everything.
What the Podcast Covers
Each episode is a guided meditation or moment of calm, designed to be accessible to everyone — whether you’ve meditated before or the idea feels completely unfamiliar. There’s no right way to listen. You don’t need to sit cross-legged or clear your mind completely. You just need a few minutes and somewhere reasonably quiet.
The episodes are suitable for anyone supporting someone living with dementia, whether at home or in a professional care setting. They’re free, they always will be, and the full library of Season 1 is available now across all major podcasting platforms and on YouTube.
The End of Season 1 — and What Comes Next
This week’s episode marks the final one of Season 1 — and after it, the podcast is taking a short summer break. Resting and renewing, as we so often ask carers to do themselves.
Season 2 returns in August, shaped by everything we’ve learned and listened to along the way. We have ideas. We have feedback. And we have every intention of coming back better than before.
In the meantime, every episode of Season 1 remains available whenever you need it. The library isn’t going anywhere. If you’ve never listened before, now is actually a wonderful time to start — fifty-five episodes waiting for you, at your own pace, in your own time.
A Thank You
To everyone who has listened, shared, or simply kept the podcast in mind for a moment when someone needed it — thank you. You are the reason it exists and the reason it will continue.
And to the carers who pressed play — even once, even just to see what it was — this was always for you. We hope it helped, even a little.
Press play, find somewhere quiet, and allow yourself to rest. You have earned it.
