Teesside Vineyard Church Support Dementia-Friendly Reminiscence Session

Published by Alison Watson-Shields on

We are delighted to share that Young At Heart ULO CIC has received a generous £100 donation from Teesside Vineyard Church, made possible through Stockton Borough Council’s Community Spaces funding initiative. This funding will enable us to deliver an additional dementia-friendly reminiscence session in partnership with Stockton Library Service, directly supporting older people living with dementia or long-term health conditions, along with their carers.

Following the success of our recent reminiscence taster session, which welcomed 21 enthusiastic participants, it was clear there was a genuine appetite for more opportunities to connect, reminisce, and share stories in a warm, welcoming space. Thanks to this donation, we can now continue to build on that momentum.

The session will include:

  • Engaging reminiscence activities to stimulate memory and conversation
  • A healthy lunch to extend the social opportunity and model good nutrition
  • A fully inclusive, accessible, and dementia-friendly environment
  • Volunteer support and staff facilitation
  • Room hire and materials to ensure a high-quality experience for all

This project aligns with local Public Health priorities by combating loneliness, promoting mental wellbeing, encouraging gentle activity, and supporting healthier eating—all within a safe community setting.

We are sincerely grateful to Teesside Vineyard Church for recognising the value of this work and supporting our commitment to making local spaces more inclusive and meaningful for those affected by dementia.

Thank you for helping us keep hearts connected, one memory at a time.
