Hospital of God Pledge Support to Musical Memories and NEW Rainbow Soup Cafe

Published by Alison Watson-Shields on

The team at Young At Heart ULO are delighted to confirm that Hospital of God in Greatham have again pledged their support to our Musical Memories Dementia Choir with a donation of £1000 towards the delivery of the music-centric programme.

The funding will also help to launch a soup-based lunch club aptly named the Rainbow Soup Cafe and the brainchild of one of our regular group members, Geoff Bulmer and his daughter Anne. Anne very kindly donated a soup maker in Autumn 2022, not only to provide freshly made soup lunches for her father but also to allow group members to bring their own fresh vegetables along to prepare fresh fruit for their lunch. Not only did this inspire wider group members to purchase their own personal soup makers, it generated timely conversations about food poverty, the cost of living increase and the mental health impact of regularly dining alone.

Anne presented the group with this brand new soup maker in Autumn 2022.

This donation from Hospital of God will go a long way in supporting our mission of promoting the wellbeing and social inclusion of older adults living with dementia in our community. With this financial support, we will be able to continue providing a space for people living with dementia and their care partners to come together and enjoy the benefits of singing and reminiscing over shared musical memories.

Furthermore, the contribution to the launch of the Rainbow Soup Cafe Lunch Club will enable us to provide nutritious hot meals to those in need, and help combat food insecurity in our community.

We are truly grateful for the generosity and willingness of Hospital of God to support our cause. This donation will have a positive impact on the lives of many older adults in our community, and we are humbled to have your support.

Once again, thank you to Hospital of God in Greatham for your donation and for making a difference in the lives of those we serve.
