This week at Young At Heart ULO we belatedly celebrated Random Acts of Kindness Day, which took place on Sunday 17th February.

In Stockton, on Monday morning, we seated the group together to play a (made up) game of ‘Kindness Beetle’. The game is not too dissimilar to the traditional game of ‘Beetle’ but, instead of drawing a beetle, participants drew a flower and shared compliments, kind words and small acts of kindness.

In Billingham, on Monday afternoon, the group split in half. While half of the group enjoyed a game of ‘Kindness Beetle’ the other half of the group took to the kitchen to make jam tarts for all of the group members and their carers too.

In Thornaby, on Tuesday afternoon, we had the pleasure of being part of a celebration event at the LiveWell Hub, where the team and individual members had been recognised for their work in a prestigious award ceremony. Our afternoon was spent enjoying the vintage sounds of Claire Louise, who took us back in time with her renditions of popular music dating right back to World War 1.

In Ingleby Barwick, on Friday morning, we welcomed our first members. The session was spent updating the new members on the format and structure of the sessions, completing necessary paperwork, working on our childhood family tree and learning about each others hobbies and interests.

Next week we will have a diverse range of activities taking place, which will include a general knowledge quiz and circus skills. We hope to see you there!
