To describe this week as exciting could be considered an understatement, particularly if you enjoy all things circus and/or pantomime. Oh no you don’t? Oh yes, we do!
On Monday morning, the group at St John’s Church spent the morning working on their family tree; talking about their partners and children. They shared stories about family holidays, special occasions and married life.
On Monday afternoon, the group at East Avenue Community Centre welcomed DZ Circus School, who will be working with the group over the coming months to develop their circus skills. The group had the chance to try juggling, Diablo, flower sticks and plate spinning. The Circus Skills experience is available to anybody who is living with dementia or is caring for a person living with dementia. Please see the poster for details.
On Tuesday afternoon, the group based at the LiveWell Hub in Thornaby completed their family tree and shared stories of their childhood holidays, and also holidays with their children. We also chatted about the ‘black sheep’ of the family – pointing out that if they didn’t know who the black sheep was, then it was probably them!
On Wednesday, some group members attended the trip to Hutton Rudby Village Hall to see the amateur dramatic society perform the pantomime ‘Rapunzel’. Those who attended enjoyed the evening, with the highlight of the event being served tea and biscuits by the characters during the interval.
The Friday group at Ingleby Barwick Community Centre was again unattended. Based on feedback received, we will be moving the time of the Friday session back an hour; starting at 11am from Friday 1st February 2019.
Next week, the group will be discussing current affairs and working on their family history, if they haven’t already completed it.
