This week at Young At Heart ULO we got active, creative and social!
In Stockton, the group made use of all of the Church grounds by enjoying a range of physical games. A small number of people headed outside into the church gardens to play lawn darts and pick brambles while, inside, group members took part in target practice, skittles and quoits. We had two new members at the session who both got involved in the games. It was lovely to see so many people up and active – we should probably do it more often!
In Billingham, we celebrated our first session at our new venue by taking part in the same range of indoor games. In addition to that, we also asked the group some ‘deep and meaningful’ questions, such as “would you like to live forever?” and “What are your words of wisdom for the younger generations?”. The group have quickly settled into the new venue and were happy with the extra space that East Avenue Community Centre offers the group; not to mention the bottomless cups of tea!
In Thornaby, the group split into two different groups. One group worked on our Unremembered project – creating clay dog tags and sewing together the upcycled poppies, while the rest of the group worked together to write a short story.
Next week’s theme will be ‘sounds’ so we may have a music quiz, sounds quiz or play some musical instruments. Some group members will also be continuing with the Unremembered and RAF100 projects.
Transport has now been booked for our trip to Shildon’s Locomotion Museum on Thursday 30th August. There are 4 seats going spare, priced at £10 each – get in touch if you would like to know more.
