This week at Young At Heart ULO was quite busy. On Monday we had a reminiscence activity using a suitcase full of items that included cigarette tins, cigar boxes, hairbrush and hair accessories, a 1970’s driving licence, petrol ration book, smoking pipe, mouth organ, miniature bottles gifts sets and tins and containers for various bits and pieces. We also had the 1930’s record player with records so that we could listen to some memorable music.

Tuesday was a little bit different as we had visitors from Teesside Park and Bauer Academy attend the group to deliver their own ‘Down Memory Lane’ themed session. The group enjoyed a sing-a-long to some music hall classics before browsing through the collection of historic replicas posters and pictures and talking to the team about their life history.

We have asked those attending next weeks session to bring along their favourite poem or poetry book to share and recite their favourites before attempting to write our own.
