This week at Young At Heart ULO the plan was to get the groups physically active by engaging them with the parachute activity. The parachute offers a fun way to exercise to music but you have to keep an eye on them when the beach ball or bean bags are added because things can quickly become overstimulating!
At Stockton, the group weren’t very keen on the idea of exercise so they used the session to socialise and play dominoes. Dominoes can also cause quite a stir at this group as one member and one volunteer are often referred to as ‘hustlers’ due the the number of times that they win!
In Billingham, the group took part in the parachute activity and reported feeling quite tired following the sessions. For a number of group members, it was the first time that they had taken part in the activity so they were unsure what to expect.
In Thornaby the activity was met with some excitement, particularly from one group member who quotes this as her favourite activity we do! Following refreshments, we moved the tables out of the way and, due to the large group size, were able to make use of our larger parachute!
Photographs of this activity can be seen on the group Facebook page.
Join us next week for a quiz, topic as yet undecided.
