This week at Young At Heart ULO we are doing things a little bit differently, as each of our sessions will consist of exactly the same activity; celebrating Random Acts of Kindness Week!
As a Random Acts of Kindness Activist (RAKtivist) I carry out random acts of kindness (thus the name!) for friends, family and strangers alike – strangers are just friends we haven’t met yet!
As this week is Random Acts of Kindness Week AND Valentines Day, I have spent the weekend preparing my random act. I have bought a batch of butterfly cakes and numerous bunches of tulips (the roses didn’t look very healthy). Each butterfly cake will contain a cocktail stick with a random compliment attached to it. The random compliments will be taken from a list of 45 compliments that I have heard, said or read and that are appropriate to the group members (e.g. telling someone they have nice elbows might sound a little strange!). Each person who attends Young At Heart ULO this week will receive a tulip, a butterfly cake and a compliment.
In addition to this, it would be difficult to ignore the fact that it is Valentines Day. With this in mind, I have found a 30 question Valentine’s Day quiz. It contains some really easy questions (e.g. what date does Valentine’s Day fall on?) and some slightly more difficult questions (e.g. which monk invented champagne?… Dom Perignon, for anyone who isn’t sure). I’m not sure how well the quiz will work, but it is a talking point!
Next week will be physical games at all of the Young At Heart groups, and will include the parachute game – a firm favourite!
