This morning at Young At Heart we had a visit from Nouveau Fitness, who delivered a taster session of their chair based dance and exercise class that they run at the LiveWell Dementia Hub in Thornaby.

The group danced to a variety of tunes from the past, with everyone making the moves as big as they could manage.

At the end of the session we discussed an offer for funding from the Better Care Fund dementia strand and the group voted against the funding as it meant that they would lose control over their group, be restricted to the number of sessions they could attend and would completely change the nature of Young At Heart.

The group would like to continue to support as many people as possible, without any restrictions.

Next week we are meeting at The Centenary in Norton as the church is closed for Holy week.
