This morning at Young At Heart we had a small party celebrating my 3 years as a Dementia Friends Champion.

In preparation for the party I bought some nibbles; sausage rolls, pork pies, mini quiche and , of course, cake. We also had a bottle of Bucks Fizz and 2 bottles of Schloer.

After preparing and serving the food to the members I explained what we were celebrating and why. Young At Heart were the first Dementia Friends that I delivered a session to after completing my training course. The members at the time provided some much appreciated constructive feedback on the delivery of the session and also provided me with some great anecdotal stories that I was able to recall (without disclosing personal details, of course) while delivering future sessions. I will always be grateful for the honesty of the group.

We listened to some music and chatted together about our group and what we would like to do in the future.

Next week we will be meeting to discuss our new management committee roles. We would like to thank Gayle from Clevearc for all of her support over the last 6 years.
