Today was a busy morning at Young At Heart, with 25 people attending again (in total). Out theme for today was ‘getting creative’ so our activity was based on the paint by numbers activities that are becoming popular again. This activity was suggested by one of our members.

At the start of the session we discussed different themes for our pictures. One table had to come up with a list of 6 different emotions and assign colours to those emotions, another had to list 6 different flowers, and the last listed 6 different styles of music.

There was a selection of four images that the group could colour with their own, unique colour schemes: Mona Lisa, Starry Night, The Scream and Girl with the Pearl Earring.

The group were really engaged in the activity, with everyone completing their own, unique version of their choice of famous painting. A few members struggled with the idea because of the bright and bold colours they had chosen which made their picture look very strange.

The theme for next week is ‘number games’.
