This morning at Young At Heart our theme was ‘Using Money’, but rather than use the traditional shopping list activity, I posed the question “What would you do with the money if you won £1 million on the lottery?”

This question obviously led to a wide range of responses:

  • Buy a house or bungalow
  • Buy a holiday home
  • Buy a new car
  • Go on holiday
  • Give money to charity
  • Give money to family
  • Bury the money in the garden

We had lots of laughs at people’s reactions, especially one gentleman who wouldn’t give anyone a single penny!

Afterwards, inspired by a show I saw recently at ARC entitled ‘How To Be A Hero’ I asked the group who their hero was. We had quite a range of responses including family, sports personalities and war veterans.

Next week, at the members request, we are having a discussion on the theme of crime and punishment – asking “Should the punishment fit the crime?”
